Billy Stewart grew up outside of Philadelphia where he first started playing the game of golf at 12 years old. At the age of 15, Billy was a scratch golfer and one of Philadelphia’s top ranked juniors. He earned a scholarship to Saint Joseph’s University where he became the first freshman to win the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships. Billy was later inducted into Saint Joseph’s Athletics Hall of Fame in 2014.
After college, Billy played the mini tours in Florida for 5 years. He met David Leadbetter while playing on the West Florida Tour where he began to regularly see the Leadbetter staff for instruction. After winning multiple times on mini-tours, Billy decided to become a club pro and help pass on his knowledge on to others as a golf coach. Billy currently works at The ACE Club outside Philadelphia in the summer and works at our Leadbetter Academy of Palm Beach in the winter. During the summer months, Billy is one of the top players in the Philadelphia section with two years in a row of a competitive stroke average under 70, and recently claimed the title of 2015 Pennsylvania Open Champion.
Billy not only has been certified by Leadbetter but is also a PGA Member. He earned his membership by the PGA in 2016 and followed it up with a PGA Certification in Teaching and Coaching. After his PGA Certification, he decided to become TPI Certified to help his understanding even more of the physical demand the golf swing has on the body. Billy also has found club fitting as a very useful tool in helping his students get better and uses his knowledge being a Certified Titleist Club Fitting Professional as well.
